The quilt symbolizes the small part each of us plays, no matter how seemingly insignificant, when touching and connected for a single purpose, providing strength, support, and creating a spectacular whole. The simplicity of my square represents the life cycle: sunrise, the river of life meandering through fields of green, offering nourishment as it touches, and sunset. I knew Rene for a brief, yet important time of my life: the transition from student to professional. He was warm and welcoming, listening to my trials and offering advise and support. We often communicated by email, which was just another way that Rene could reach out and connect with others. I am deeply saddened by his loss. I will remember him fondly, like the memory of a glorious sunrise, the feel of it's warm colorful rays on my face, and the knowledge that I have been touched by a gifted soul. Rene, je t'en prie le privilege de te connaitre. Merci et au revoir.
