First of all, I've always thought of Rene as a very bright light. He radiated such a loving light in all his work and relationships. And when he left us, he was like a shooting star- but one that was bursting out of his physical form and returning to the heavens- the greater cosmos from which he came. So, having this primary image of him, I wanted both the form and the materials to represent that. Therefore, I chose the holographic paper that reflects a full rainbow of colors and made his name in the explosive, expanding form. The background color is midnight blue for the night sky. The color of his name is purple to represent the spiritual core. And his name is in the stars. The whole thing looks different depending on how the light is reflected off the surface. My favorite is when there is less light because then the specific shapes of his name seem to dissolve into the whole, as he now is.
